05_The Model Prayer

Jesus instructs the disciples to pray, "Thy Kingdom come." What did Jesus mean in the context and how is it that disciples can use this prayer as a "model" today? Sometimes we bring more to a passage than is necessary when we study. That is, we should come to the context of the passage and not bring a context to the passage. Frequently, we seek to understand in light of controversies and questions that arise in our time which were not before the speaker's mind at the time these things were originally said. We must be careful not to make a mess of what is said, rather than obtain a clear picture and helpful instruction.
