BibleTalk with Jeff Asher

BibleTalk with Jeff Asher began in 1988 as a call-in radio broadcast which aired for ten years on KGNC in Amarillo, TX. Later it moved to the internet as a website for articles, class materials, sermon outlines and debates to be downloaded for use all over the world. Now, BibleTalk is still growing and changing, being a podcast for audio and, eventually, video Bible study resources.

There is a grave misunderstanding in the minds of many concerning fellowship. Some seem to think it is nothing more than eating and drinking, entertainment, and good company. While Christians may engage in such with others, the Bible never calls this fellowship. Rather, fellowship is our relationship to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit which exists through the Gospel. As a result, we have a very real fellowship with God and all the saints living and dead.

Jerusalem is an adulteress, filthy and polluted by her lovers the Baalim. She is an apostate nation; she is rebellious and unbelieving. She will not repent. Jehovah dwells in their midst, but they know no shame.

Jehovah is bringing the Babylonians upon the nations surrounding Judah to put an end to their idolatry and convince the nation to repent. Judah can still have hope in the Messiah if a righteous remnant will endure.

Tuesday Apr 18, 2023

Jesus answers the Jews plainly, "I and My Father are one." Now, they take up stones to stone Him as a blasphemer. But Jesus turns their argument against them and proves Himself by the signs which He has done.

Sometimes the Devil seeks to hinder us in obedience to Christ by seducing us away through deceitful misrepresentation of the commitment God requires. He would have us believe there is no joy, no pleasure, no satisfaction in serving the Lord Jesus. That is certainly not the case. However, there are some things we give up in serving Christ that we ought to consider. Which, when properly considered, help us to see the great advantage in serving the God of Heaven.

Zephaniah 1:13-2:3

Tuesday Apr 18, 2023

Tuesday Apr 18, 2023

Zephaniah has announced the Day of the Lord. Babylon is coming, Jerusalem will be destroyed, Judah is going into captivity. Is there any hope? "Seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be that you will be hid in the Day of the Lord's anger."

The Good Shepherd Returns

Monday Apr 10, 2023

Monday Apr 10, 2023

Jesus returns to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Dedication and is confronted by the Jews seeking an occasion to accuse Him that they might put Him to death. Jesus explains to them once again that they must consider the testimony of the works which the Father does through Him. Jesus and the Father are one, and because they are one, He and the Father preserve the sheep from the wolves, robbers, thieves, and faithless hirelings who kill and destroy.

In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul answers the objection that there is no resurrection of the dead. In doing so he implies several positive consequences of Christ being the first fruits of them that slept. In this study Jeff Asher considers several of these, Study along with him.

Zephaniah 1:4-12

Monday Apr 10, 2023

Monday Apr 10, 2023

The prophet Zephaniah announces judgment upon Judah and Jerusalem. The Day of the Lord will come upon them: those that worship the Baal, those that worship the Ashtoreth, those that pass their children through the fire to Moloch, and those that have turned away from the Lord. God has prepared these for a sacrifice and summoned their enemies to come and feast upon the king, his sons, all the self-serving court and the corrupt merchants of the land. Judgment is upon all those that oppress and forget God.

Making Connections (Ira Lynn)

Saturday Apr 08, 2023

Saturday Apr 08, 2023

Ira Lynn leads a study from Ephesians 4:1-16 in which he considers making connections with God's people. Sin fractured our connection with God. It drove a wedge between God and Adam, it caused friction between Adam and Eve; it eventually led to murder and every other cause of alienation in our world. But in Jesus Christ we can walk with God and learn to walk with each other in the unity of the Spirit.
