A Field in Anathoth (Ira Lynn)

Many folks don't have much use for faith regarding it as impractical. To them faith is all theology and theory. It just doesn't have any place in the real world where we must live. Yet, Jeremiah is a wonderful example demonstrating how having faith is the only practical way to face the world and what living brings to us every day. Ira Lynn considers the Jeremiah and his demonstration of great faith in buying the field in Anathoth. 

Exiles (Ira Lynn)

Ira Lynn considers Jeremiah 29 and the fact that as Israel was in exile even so we, too, live in exile. We ought to embrace our exile status. Listen as Ira observes that exiles must listen to God, that exiles should live with a purpose, and that exiles do live with a promise.    

Are We Blind Also?

Jesus heals a man born blind in order to teach a great lesson about Himself as the Light of the World. Jeff Asher discusses this miracle, its signinficance as the most thoroughly examined miracle which Jesus worked, and how this miracle demonstrated the sad fulfillment of Isaiah 6:9-11. 

The Basis of Authority

In this continuing series Jeff Asher talks about the basis of authority for the NT Church. In doing so he discusses the three ways in which Bible authority is established.

Introduction to Zephaniah (1:1)

Jeff Asher discusses the historical background for the book of Zephaniah. The book was written during the reign of King Josiah. Most likely, during the first few years of his reign as Josiah was preparing himself for the great task of restoration in Israel (2 Kings 22-23; 2 Chronicles 34-35). It was a wicked time, but a great time of religious zeal for the remnant in Judah.  

Thou Bearest Record of Thyself (John 8:13-32)

Jesus continues His discourse with the Jews answering their question: "Who art Thou?" 

Before Abramham Was I Am (John 8:48-59)

The Jews continue the ad hominem attacks against Jesus slurring His parentage and questioning His sanity. Yet, Jesus does not deviate from His purpose to honor the Father and warn His detractors of their eternal peril. Jesus bravely affirms, "God is My Father and I will not deny Him." 

Habakkuk 3:1-19

The prophets publishes a psalm for Israel to sing in during the ensuing judgment. The God that brought Israel up from Egypt and dispersed the nations before them, the God of their salvation whose goodness they have received, but now spurned to their shame, will bring the nations against them. Judah must wait on God and endure their chasenting knowing that in His wrath He remembers mercy.    

Habakkuk 2:4-20

God answers the prophet. Once Judah has been chastened God will turn in judgment upon wicked Babylon. He will not allow them to make a full end of Judah as a nation, a remnant will return and fulfill God's purpose. God speaks great words of assurance: "The just shall life by his faith...the Lord is in HIs holy Temple, let all the world keep silence."

Habakkuk 1:12-2:4

Habakkuk does not understand how God can use a nation more wicked than Judah as an instrument of His just judgment. The prophet is conserned that Babylon will utterly destroy the nation; this threat unsettles the prophet's hope and stirs doubt. But, Habakkuk purposes to wait patiently for God's answer.
